Understanding The Human Brain - The Ultimate Application of High Performance Computing

INTJ Chief Executive Officer Clarke Towson talks about the application of high performance computing to help humanity understand how the human brain works and the potential this understanding could provide to lead to incredible leaps forward in computing and technology which may lead to the creation of advanced neural net processors, possibly operating in parallel and ultimately to cyborgs and potentially bio-engineered humans that are capable of performing tasks that only humans are currently capable of performing. Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege and Justice Hans Reiser Episode: Programmed for Murder

A fascinating Power, Privilege and Justice episode about Hans Reiser of ReiserFS fame:

Blade Runner - could humanoid robots ever be created using existing silicon based technology or will we have to turn to human genetic engineering as the only (questionably ethical) option to create advanced robots which surpass the uncanny valley?

Yes Prime Minister - A Conflict of Interest

IBM recently hosted a High Performance Computing conference in Canberra which I was lucky enough to have been present at. The speakers were very interesting and I got a lot out of the day. I had the opportunity to meet some of the leaders in HPC in Australia and I'm really looking forward to having more contact with them over time to share knowledge, skills and our shared experiences working in the HPC space in Australia.

I have provided a link below for you to view the presentations. One of the best presentations which I personally got a lot out of was by Dr Lindsay Botten from NCI who spoke about the future of HPC:
