Bottom Line: The solution to the Byzantine Generals problem means we the people do not have to rely on corporations, governments, trusted intermediaries like banks or other middle men any more. Instead we put our trust in cryptography which is much more reliable and now we can do business with each other peer to peer with no authority hovering over us telling us we can't do that. The cryptocurrency revolution at it's heart is all about decentralization and this is only made possible due to the solution to the Byzantine Generals problem.
